Other Notable Mentions
As well as our top six highlights, there are plenty of other little gems nearby that add to the charm of staying at Neddy Meadow. Some are just down the lane, others a short drive away, but all worth a visit:
- The Bridge, Grinton – our “other local” pub, sitting just over the river. A classic country inn with hearty food, open fires in winter, and a friendly atmosphere that makes it popular with walkers and cyclists alike.
- The Ice Cream Parlour, Reeth – a treat for kids and grown-ups alike, with generous scoops and plenty of flavours to choose from. Perfect after a walk or bike ride.
- The Book Exchange, Grinton – a lovely little corner of community life, where you can swap a book or pick something new for a lazy afternoon read in the meadow.
- Reeth Village Post Office – practical essentials, friendly faces, and the sort of place where time seems to move at a gentler pace.
- Reeth Village Shop - Whether you need milk, a newspaper, or just a chat, it’s always handy to have close by.
- The Other Pubs in Reeth – alongside The Buck, Reeth has two more pubs to explore, each with its own character. Between them, you’ll always find local ales, hearty grub, and a warm Yorkshire welcome.
- The Copper Kettle, Reeth – a traditional tearoom serving hearty breakfasts, homemade cakes, and proper pots of tea. A cosy stop-off at any time of day.
Further afield:
- Richmond – a historic market town about 20 minutes away. Wander the cobbled streets, explore the Norman castle, browse the market square, or simply sit by the Swale waterfall and watch the world go by.
- Barnard Castle – famous these days for more than just its ruined medieval fortress (yes, it’s also a good spot for an “eye test” 😄). It’s a lovely town for a day out, with independent shops and favourites like Niche Interiors for a browse.
And of course, the Dales are full of extra surprises — from wildflower meadows and stone villages to farmers’ markets and craft fairs — there’s always something new to discover just beyond the gate.
